Pune, December 7, 2024: In a shocking incident that has left residents furious, a 19-year-old driver rammed five vehicles in Pune’s Baner area on Monday, injuring a father and daughter. This incident, captured on video, quickly went viral on social media, drawing angry reactions from netizens.
The accused, identified as Hrutik Sham Bansode, an original resident of Dharashiv, was reportedly in an inebriated state while driving his MG Gloster SUV car at high speed. According to police, Bansode lost control of his car while speeding from Nanaware Chowk via Pashan, leading to the accident in Baner.
Eyewitness accounts revealed that the SUV first struck three to four vehicles before coming to a halt temporarily. When angry bystanders confronted him, the accused shockingly refused to cooperate and instead sped off in an attempt to escape. Chaos ensued as locals pelted some stones at the vehicle to stop him. Undeterred, Bansode continued driving recklessly, endangering more lives.
After that, a group of enraged individuals started chasing Bansode on a two-wheeler before handing him over to the police. The police confirmed that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone IV) Himmat Jadhav said, “The accused was found driving under the influence of alcohol. His medical examination has been conducted, and appropriate legal action will be taken against him.”
