Over 1,30,000 Females Receive Routine Check-Ups at Sahyadri Hospitals in Pune Over the Past 11 Months
Pune: Western Maharashtra’s largest chain of hospital, Sahyadri Hospitals has observed a notable growth in awareness about women’s health through meticulous data collection and analysis. These statistics not only highlight the increasing consciousness among women regarding their well-being but also underscore the evolving landscape of healthcare practices tailored specifically for them and the shifting paradigm towards women’s health awareness.
Throughout the fiscal year 2024, Sahyadri Hospitals welcomed an impressive influx of 1,30,000 female individuals for routine check-ups. This substantial turnout underscores a proactive approach towards managing health and emphasizes the pivotal role of preventive healthcare practices in safeguarding overall well-being. Noteworthy is the commendable surge of 9-10% witnessed in preventive screenings, such as mammograms and pap smears, during FY24. This uptick signifies a heightened awareness among women regarding the early detection of diseases, thereby facilitating timely interventions and improving health outcomes. Additionally, Sahyadri Hospitals conducted health checkups, with a focus on approximately 27% for diabetes screenings and around 31% for hypertension or cardiovascular disease examinations. This trend reflects a rising understanding of the need of properly managing chronic health disorders, with a focus on routine screenings as the cornerstone of preventative healthcare. In keeping with Sahyadri Hospitals’ dedication to comprehensive health, in FY24, there was a 10% increase in the number of women receiving vaccinations or immunizations during their regular doctor visits compared to FY23.
A remarkable 95% of women attended prenatal care appointments on a regular basis throughout their pregnancies, demonstrating the remarkable level of engagement in prenatal care, a cornerstone of maternal health, and the significance of comprehensive prenatal care in ensuring favorable outcomes for both mothers and newborns. Sahyadri Hospitals also hosted a number of influential health and wellness seminars and workshops, including the MomStory Carnival and Masterclass sessions, which brought in over 1 lakh women in total.
Notable patterns have also been observed in the kinds of illnesses that women are being diagnosed with; they include an increase in IVF cycles, PCOS/PCOD consultations, breast cancer procedures, and the total number of cancer patients. These patterns highlight changing healthcare priorities and demands, directing the work toward providing women with individualized, all-encompassing care.
Mr. Abrarali Dalal, Director & CEO of Sahyadri Hospitals, states “In this journey towards elevating women’s health awareness, we’ve witnessed remarkable milestones that not only speak volumes about the shifting dynamics in healthcare but also about the empowerment of women in taking proactive steps towards their health in Pune. The statistics we’ve gathered over the fiscal year 2024 underscore a significant leap in awareness and engagement with preventive healthcare measures. However, there is still a pressing need to create a lot of awareness when it comes to women’s health. Women are not yet very proactive about undergoing tests like Pap smears and mammograms. Considering the increasing cases of women cancer patients, there is a dire need to educate women and make their health a priority.”
He further added, “This not only reflects our commitment at Sahyadri Hospitals to cater to the specific healthcare needs of women in Pune but also our dedication to fostering a society where women’s health is prioritized and valued. As we commemorate International Women’s Day, let us reaffirm our pledge to empower women with the knowledge and resources they need to lead healthier, fuller lives. Our focus remains steadfast on not just treating illnesses but on preventing them, ensuring every woman has access to the healthcare she deserves”.
In recognition of International Women’s Day, Sahyadri Hospitals reaffirms its steadfast commitment to empowering women with the essential knowledge, understanding, and access to healthcare necessary for them to take charge of their well-being. As we strive to enhance the health and wellness of women, we envision a future where every woman has the opportunity to thrive in the best possible health and vitality.
