Babar was admitted to a private hospital yesterday where he breathed his last. Family sources said his funeral will be held in the afternoon. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is likely to attend the funeral, Sena sources said.
Babar had been elected MLA as many as four times from Sangli district. He was known for working tirelessly to get state government’s water schemes to the drought prone areas of Sangli. Currently, he was pursuing the state government to operational a few water schemes in the region so that residents do not suffer water shortage in the summer months.
In his condolence message, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said the Shiv Sena has lost its strong pillar and Sangli district has lost a social worker. ”Anil Babar was among the outstanding MLAs of Maharashtra. His work for the drought-hit Sangli district speaks for itself. He was working tirelessly for the people of Sangli and his constituency,” he said.
