Pune, May 15, 2025: A disturbing incident has taken place in Pune, where a woman who was going for the night shift in the office was being dragged to a secluded place and was sexually assaulted by an individual. This incident took place in the Medankarwadi area of Chakan on the night of May 13. In this regard, the police have lodged a complaint against the accused, who has been arrested.
On the night of May 13, the victim woman was, as usual, going for work to the night shift in a private company. As she was walking from the road, the accused individual blocked her road near the Khandoba temple in Akurdi and dragged her to a secluded place. There he did a sexual assault on her.
Meanwhile, the woman tried to scream loudly and also bit the accused’s hand. Frightened by the woman’s move, the accused started running from there. After that, the woman, with the help of a female and a male colleague, called the police control room and informed them about the incident. The woman was immediately admitted to the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s YCM Hospital for treatment.
Upon learning of the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police Shivaji Pawar, Crime Branch teams and local police reached the spot. Accordingly, with the help of the dog squad and forensic teams along with the CCTV footage of the area, the police arrested the accused and put him into the jail. Senior Police Inspector Pramod Wagh of Chakan Police Station is conducting further investigation.
