Pune, October 8, 2024: Pune city has recently witnessed a surge in anti-social activities, with yet another alarming incident reported on Sunday. In a shocking turn of events, a burglar robbed the donation box of the historic Omkareshwar Mandir in Shaniwar Peth. A formal complaint regarding the theft has been lodged at the Vishrambaug police station.
According to preliminary details, the incident occurred during the late hours of Sunday night. The unidentified burglar broke into the temple premises by forcibly opening the door and made away with Rs 6,000 from the temple’s donation box. The theft went unnoticed until the following morning, when it was discovered by the temple authorities.
Kaustubh Ulhas Gade, aged 40, a resident of the Omkareshwar Mandir premises, immediately informed the authorities and filed a police complaint at the Vishrambaug police station. He reported that the donation box was found pried open, and the stolen amount was missing from the donation box.
Upon receiving the information, Police Inspector Arun Ghodke from the Crime Branch promptly reached the temple along with the team to inspect the site. The police have already gathered footage from CCTV cameras installed within the temple premises and are analysing it for clues to identify the perpetrator.
The authorities have ramped up efforts to solve this case, and Police sub-inspector Patil is currently leading the investigation in this case.
