Mumbai : The Directorate General of Taxpayer Services (DGTS), Mumbai Zonal Unit, in association with the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), organized a webinar on “Digital Initiatives for Augmentation of Export Trade of India” today, stated a press release.
The webinar aimed to create awareness about the various digital initiatives launched by the Government of India to simplify customs procedures, reduce regulatory burdens, and increase transparency for exporters. The event brought together expert dignitaries, including
Mr Mahesh Kumar Rustogi, Director General, and Shri Sumit Kumar, Pr ADG, of Directorate of Taxpayer Services;Dr. Ajay Sahai, Director General & CEO, FIEO; Mt Rajesh Kumar Mishra, Additional Director General of Foreign Trade, Mumbai & Shri Hardeep Batra & Shri Sanjeev Kumar Singh both Commissioners of Customs (Exports) of Mumbai.
The webinar highlighted notable digital initiatives implemented by the government which include:
Electronic Bank Realization Certificate (EBRC), an initiative that enables exporters to electronically file their Bank Realization Certificates (BRCs) with the customs authorities, reducing the need for physical documentation.
Digital Receipt and Invoice Tracking Initiative (Dristi), which enables customs authorities to track and verify invoices and receipts electronically, reducing the risk of errors and discrepancies.
e-Xamination and e-Manifest Automated System (X-MAS) a digital initiative that enables customs authorities to electronically examine and clear shipments, reducing the need for physical examination and speeding up the clearance process.
Ekal Anubandh, is an electronic E-bond and E-bank guarantee facility for taxpayers. This digital platform is designed to replace multiple manual bonds and bank guarantees with a single, streamlined Digital Bond, simplifying the process and reducing paperwork for taxpayers.
Online Customs Refund facility, which aims to expedite the refund process. The system ensures fully digitized refunds with direct transfers to taxpayers’ accounts, providing a quicker and more efficient refund mechanism.
VEGA (Vision for Expeditious Goods Release on Arrival), was launched to promote the swift movement of goods. This facility allows Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) entities to directly move their import cargo to their premises, where cargo examination will be carried out.
These initiatives aim to reduce physical documentation, errors, and discrepancies, and speed up the clearance process.
The webinar was attended by exporters, trade stakeholders, and officials from various government departments. The event provided a platform for discussion and exchange of ideas on how to leverage digital initiatives to enhance export trade in India.
