Pune, January 23, 2025: A massive fire broke out at a worker’s house near Kashid Park in the Pimple Gurav area on Thursday. The fire gutted belongings and caused substantial financial losses, with no clarity yet on the cause of the incident.
After learning of the incident, firefighters from the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s main fire station and the Rahatani fire station rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control within 20 minutes. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported, as informed by Fire Officer Gautam Ingavale.
However, the densely populated area posed challenges for the fire brigade in reaching the location promptly. By the time the fire was contained, the worker’s house was completely ravaged, with cash and valuables destroyed in the flames.
The fire also spread to neighbouring structures, damaging 20 houses. Initial estimates suggest losses amounting to Rs 5 lakh in cash and around Rs 10 lakh worth of gold ornaments, with five tolas of gold reportedly lost. Early investigations by the fire department indicate a possible short circuit as the cause of the fire.
Residents expressed shock and despair over the incident, as many lost their money and valuables in the fire. Meanwhile, timely intervention by the fire brigade prevented the blaze from escalating further.
