Pune Metro has joined hands with TS Switch E-Ride Pvt Ltd to provide a convenient e-bike rental service, with the goal of enhancing first-and last-mile connectivity for commuters.
As per Pune reports, the service will be priced at Rs 1.5 per minute. The initial phase of this project will be rolled out at ten metro stations, which include PCMC, Sant Tukaram Nagar, Nashik Phata, Dapodi, Shivajinagar, Mandai, Swargate, Ruby Hall Clinic, Anand Nagar, and Vanaz. This service is anticipated to be operational within approximately 1.5 to 2 months.
Proposed Rental Charges:
Rs 1.50 for each minute
Rs 55 for each hour
Rs 110 for a duration of 2 hours
Rs 165 for a duration of 3 hours
Rs 200 for a duration of 4 hours
Rs 305 for a duration of 6 hours
Rs 450 for a full day (24 hours)
With the daily passenger count for Pune Metro reaching 160,000 and continuing to rise, the introduction of the new e-bike service will be a much-anticipated enhancement. Additionally, 50 e-bikes, branded ‘Switch E-Ride,’ will be available at these locations.
Riders can conveniently reserve their cycles using an app or a QR code and return them to the same station or a nearby docking station. The specific locations for these docking stations will be confirmed after a survey and will be announced shortly.
The e-bikes are built for convenience, reaching a maximum speed of 25 km/h, capacity for two individuals (with a maximum weight of 150 kg), and offering a battery range of as much as 80 km on one charge.
The battery can be replaced in less than 5 minutes, and users have the ability to monitor their bikes in real-time. Additionally, an SOS button is accessible via the mobile app for quick help.
