Pune, May 7, 2025: In a significant action, the Wanwadi Police have arrested a recidivist drug smuggler from the Ramtekdi area of Hadapsar. From him, the police seized three kilos of ganja and a two-wheeler.
The arrested accused’s name is Shailesh Shankar Suryawanshi (35), and he is a resident of Ramtekdi, Hadapsar. In this regard, a complaint has been registered against him at Wanwadi police station.
Yesterday, the Wanwadi police were patrolling in the Ramtekdi area. Meanwhile, the police officials Amol Gaikwad and Gopal Madne received a tip-off from their informant that one of the young men was going from Gangadham Chowk towards Hadapsar and was carrying an illicit ganja in his bike. Following the tip-off, the police laid a trap at Ramtekdi bridge and detained the accused.
Upon the arrest, the police recovered three kilos and 56 grams of ganja from the accused, whose market value is around 60 thousand rupees. Further, the police also seized a two-wheeler and a mobile from him. A case has been registered against Suryavanshi at Wanwadi police station for drug trafficking. The police informed that this is not the first time Suryawanshi has been arrested, and multiple cases have already been registered against him for drug trafficking at various police stations in Pune.
