Mumbai, Feb 10: The schedule for the State Legislature’s Budget Session in Mumbai has been fixed from Monday, February 23 to Wednesday, March 25, 2026. The state budget will be presented on March 6. This decision was finalized during the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC), stated in a press release.
The meeting, held at Vidhan Bhavan, was attended by Legislative Council Chairman Prof. Ram Shinde, Assembly Speaker Adv. Rahul Narwekar, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Ekanth Shinde and Sunetra Pawar, and other key ministers and group leaders including Chandrakant Patil, Chandrashekhar Bawankule, and Ashish Shelar, among others.
Key Highlights of the Session:
Tribute to Ajit Pawar: Both BAC meetings paid tribute to the late Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister, Ajit Pawar. A condolence motion will be moved in both houses on the first day of the session.
Working Holidays: The legislature will remain functional on Saturday, February 28, despite it being a government holiday.
Session Breaks: There will be no proceedings on March 2 and 3 (Holi and Dhulivandan) and March 19 and 20 (Gudi Padwa and following day).
Special Discussions:
Discussion on the UN’s declaration of 2026 as the ‘International Year of Women Farmers.’
A special discussion on International Women’s Day will be held on March 9.
A discussion marking Marathi Bhasha Gaurav Din (Marathi Language Pride Day).
Farewell: A farewell ceremony will be organized for retiring members of the house.
