Pune, May 11, 2025: After almost nine months after the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s statue was collapsed at Rajkot in Sindhudurg, today, the Chief Minister of State, Devendra Fadnavis, unveiled the grand statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at the same place. At this time, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, former Union Minister Narayan Rane, Minister Nitesh Rane and other prominent leaders were present.
While speaking at this occasion, CM Fadnavis said that the promise the Mahayuti government had given to the people of Maharashtra after the tragic incident of the collapse of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’ statue has been fulfilled today. Fadnavis said, “After the statue in Rajkot collapsed, we had decided to again erect this statue with the same dignity and honour. We had promised Maharashtra that. We have fulfilled that promise today.” At this time, Fadnavis also stated that nothing will happen to this statue for at least 100 years.
“Today, it is a matter of great joy and satisfaction for us that the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on the Rajkot Fort has been re-erected with the same brilliance, self-respect and grandeur. An unfortunate incident had taken place in the past. At that time, our government had decided that we would re-establish this statue in record time. We have literally established this statue in record time. Today we have inaugurated this statue,” said Fadnavis.
At this time, Fadnavis congratulated the Public Works Department and the sculptor of this statue, Ram Sutar. “I congratulate the Public Works Department, sculptor Ram Sutar and the team of engineers who also contributed to this work,” said Fadnavis. While speaking about the strength of the material used in the statue, Fadnavis claimed that despite the harsh storms in the Konkan region, this statue will stand strong for at least the upcoming 100 years.
This statue is about 91 feet tall. It has a 10-foot pedestal. Fadnavis said that this is the tallest statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the country. It has been designed in such a way that the statue will last for at least the next 100 years in any kind of environment. The Chief Minister informed that those who built the statue would have the responsibility of maintaining it for the next 10 years.
