Pune, May 15, 2025: In a sensational breach of police protocol, gangster Gaja Marne was allegedly treated to a ‘mutton party’ at a local dhaba while being transported from Yerawada Central Jail to Sangli Jail. The shocking revelation has prompted swift action from Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, who ordered the suspension of five police personnel, including an Assistant Police Inspector (API), for gross dereliction of duty.
Marne, a notorious gangster, was recently jailed after he and his associates brutally assaulted an activist linked to Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol in what appeared to be a trivial road rage incident in Kothrud. Following the attack, Marne was lodged in Yerawada Jail, but due to security concerns, authorities decided to shift him to Sangli Jail just days ago.
During the high-security transfer, which involved a convoy of multiple vehicles, the van carrying Marne was inexplicably halted midway. What followed was nothing short of a cinematic twist — instead of heading straight to Sangli, the police escort, along with Marne, made a stop at a roadside eatery. There, in full view of CCTV cameras, the gangster and some officers allegedly feasted on mutton biryani.
What raises further alarm is that during this unauthorised halt, Marne reportedly met with several of his known associates — Satish Shilimkar, Vishal Dhumal, and Balkrishna alias Pandya Mohite. Sources in the police department have confirmed that Dhumal is a murder accused, and all three have criminal records. These meetings occurred in broad daylight at the eatery, raising serious questions about police complicity and security lapses.
As soon as the visuals of the incident surfaced, Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar took stern notice of this incident and ordered a detailed inquiry, leading to the suspension of the API and five other personnel. Simultaneously, legal proceedings have been initiated against the individuals who met Marne during the halt.
