Pune, January 13, 2025: A massive fire broke out at Rishi Poly Bond, a plastic moulding company located in Bhosari MIDC Sector 10, on Sunday evening. Fortunately, no casualties were reported as the company was closed for a holiday. Firefighting efforts continued late into the night as the blaze proved challenging to control due to the nature of the materials involved.
Rishi Poly Bond, situated in the industrial hub of Bhosari MIDC Sector 10, manufactures plastic moulding products. The incident occurred around 6:45 pm on Sunday when the company’s plastic materials suddenly caught fire. With Sunday being a holiday for the workers, the premises were empty, averting the heavy casualty.
As soon as the fire was reported, multiple fire brigade teams rushed to the scene. However, the presence of highly flammable plastic materials caused the fire to spread rapidly, turning the incident into a severe conflagration within minutes. Witnesses described towering flames and billowing smoke engulfing the facility.
A total of 15 to 20 firefighting vehicles, including units from all local fire stations, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), and private companies, were deployed to combat the fire. Firefighters faced an uphill battle as the flames continued to rage even late at night.
The exact cause of the fire remains unknown, with authorities yet to ascertain the trigger. Preliminary assessments suggest that the combination of stored plastic materials and potential ignition sources contributed to the rapid escalation.
