Pune, January 14, 2025: In a shocking incident that has raised serious concerns about examination malpractice, a dummy candidate was caught appearing for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) in place of the original candidate at a test centre in Pune. The discovery led to a police complaint being filed against the accused, identified as 26-year-old Anwar Maqbul Alam, a resident of Mohammad Nagar, Padri Bazar.
The fraudulent act occurred on Sunday, between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., at the iON Digital Zone in Ramtekdi. According to the police, the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination was organised by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on behalf of the National Board of Examinations (NBE) and was being conducted under strict supervision.
Despite the stringent security measures in place, examiner Vishal Laxman Bhosale discovered that Anwar Maqbul Alam was sitting for the examination as a proxy for the actual candidate, identified as Saurabh Sanjay Srivastava from Bhatwalia, Deoria district, Uttar Pradesh. Acting immediately, Bhosale lodged a formal complaint at the Wanwadi police station, leading to the registration of a case against Anwar Alam.
Authorities have stated that the act amounts to cheating both Tata Consultancy Services and the National Board of Examinations. The Wanwadi Police have registered a case in this regard, and Sub-Inspector Palve is currently investigating the matter further.
