Pune, May 7, 2025: Monday night, a patrolling team of the Pune police revealed a chilling murder of a wife by a husband near the Mumbai-Bengaluru bypass highway. In a shocking incident, the accused husband murdered his own wife by strangulating her and was trying to dispose of her body. However, his plan failed as he was detained by the Pune Police at midnight.
The accused husband has been identified as Rakesh Ramnayak Nishad (28), whereas the name of his murdered wife is Babita Rakesh Nishad (25). In this regard, Police Constable Dnyaneshwar Akhade has filed a complaint at the Nanded City Police Station.
Rakesh and Babita originally hail from the Fatehpur Sikri district of Uttar Pradesh. Ten years ago, the couple eloped from their house and married. Meanwhile, both had come to Pune for employment, and they have an eight-year-old son.
It is learnt that both the couple were having constant disputes between them for the past few days over domestic disputes. On Monday, the couple again had a dispute. However, in a heat of the moment, Rakesh murdered his wife, Babita, by strangulating her in the house. After that, Rakesh plotted a plan to dispose of the body of Babita in a nearby valley to conceal his act.
Accordingly, he wrapped his wife’s body in a gunny bag, and he was travelling from the Mumbai-Bengaluru bypass highway, in search of proper place to threw the body. At that time, on-duty police officers Dnyaneshwar Akhade and Neel Londhe suspected something unusual and stopped him. However, seeing the police, he left his vehicle and started absconding from there. Police swiftly detained him following a little chase. After the arrest, Rakesh confessed to the crime.
