Pune, May 17, 2025:In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Maharashtra Home Department issued transfer orders on Friday evening for several senior police officials across the state, including high-ranking officers from the Pune Police and other major urban centres.
Shailesh Balkawade, currently serving as the Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch), Pune, has been appointed to a key role as Additional Commissioner in the Brihanmumbai Police Force. Meanwhile, Pankaj Deshmukh, Superintendent of Police (SP) for Pune Rural, has been promoted and posted as Additional Commissioner of Police in Pune City.
In another prominent shift, Arvind Chawaria, who was overseeing the Administration Division as Additional Commissioner of Pune Police, has been named the new Police Commissioner of Amravati. Likewise, Praveen Kumar Patil, who served as Additional Commissioner for Pune Police’s South Division, will now take charge as Additional Commissioner in the Nagpur Police Force.
Further strengthening Pune’s top police leadership, Rajesh Bansode, Superintendent of Police (Wireless Department), and Sanjay Patil, Additional Commissioner of Police, Nagpur, have both been appointed as Additional Commissioners in Pune City Police.
Among other high-level appointments, Amogh Gaonkar, Deputy Commissioner of Police in the Brihanmumbai Police Force, has been elevated as Deputy Inspector General in the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Vijay Kumar Magar, Principal of the Police Training Centre in Latur, will now serve as Deputy Inspector General of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF), Ramtekdi.
Additionally, G. Sridhar, currently the Deputy Inspector General in the State Crime Investigation Department, has been assigned to the post of Deputy Inspector General (Communication, Information Technology, and Transport Department).
